Master Classes

RH_IUI am a motivational speaker for music education students and beginning teachers.

My travels take me across the country. Music Methods, Marching Band Techniques, all-school music convocations and cNAfME chapters have been my primary focus at colleges and universities, along with clinics for beginning teachers at various State conferences and conventions.

My presentation is called

‘The Realities of Teaching –

Critical Factors for Success!’

Session topics are of a practical nature and revolve around “real world” situations that students and young teachers will be facing in the classroom. Certain occasions call for offering all of the essential techniques. Others, suggest very specific areas that best fit the needs of attendees. Participants are given the opportunity for active dialogue and discussion.

As music educators, we make a difference in the lives of our students.  Leading and inspiring young people is an exhilarating honor and privilege.  However, it is not an easy endeavor. It takes thought, confidence, musicianship, caring, experience and enthusiasm in order to succeed in guiding young people. Examples of my topics for discussion include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing a Marching Band Camp – Orchestra Retreat – Vocal Camp
  • Communicating with Parents and Administrators
  • Humanistic Teaching
  • Ethics in the Classroom
  • Planning a Tour
  • Approaching Athletic / Activity Conflicts
  • Student Teaching
  • Evaluation
  • Budget

Perhaps I can be of service to your students. I am enthusiastic about giving back to the field of music education and I look forward to hearing from you!
